The Calvert Coastal Observatory is the central hub for marine research, safety, and community collaboration on BC’s remote central coast. Operating year-round, the facility powers critical oceanographic science while providing 24/7 emergency response and logistical support for neighboring conservancies. Your donation directly funds the infrastructure and operations required to protect and study this vital ecosystem.
Emergency Response: Serves as the region's 24/7 marine safety, communication, and search-and-rescue coordinator within a 40 km radius.
Conservancy Management: Manages all regional visitor orientation, education, and trail maintenance in partnership with First Nations Guardians and Park Rangers.
Scientific Research: Tracks changes in the coastal ocean, fjords, and watersheds using advanced environmental instrumentation.
Cultural & Science Dialogue: Hosts workshops that connect western coastal science with Indigenous governance, traditional knowledge, and community leadership.
